Wow! I'm impressed! Almost everyone turned in their homework packets today! Keep it up! In other news, homework packets from week one have been graded. Be on the lookout for those, they will be going home sometime next week.
Here's a few pointers on how to do this week's homework packet. It will be due Friday, September 12.
Lost and Found: Student will read for one minute. Write down the number of words (or the word they ended on) after one minute. Do this three times.
Reading Log: This week, all reading log entries need to be summaries of what the student read. Two or three sentences is plenty. Students should read 10 to 20 minutes every night.
Vocabulary: Antonyms: An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word. (dark and light, nice and mean, hot and cold) Fill in the crossword puzzle using the words found in the box. These words are: friend, vanish, quit, safety, liquids, scatter, help, noisy
Antonyms: Just like on the other page, we need to fill in words that are the OPPOSITE of the word that is in bold. For example, number 1 is found at the bottom of the pyramid. The word that goes in the boxes needs to be the opposite of the word saddest. SO, the student would write the word happiest in the boxes on number 1. The other words that need to go in the boxes are: carried, big, long, finish, happy
Following Directions (both pages): These pages are to help students learn to read through directions and follow them. The directions are self-explanatory. If a student needs more help with these pages than is given, they are welcome to ask for help in class.
Multiplication Page: Students should have their multiplication facts MASTERED by the time they reach fourth grade. Students need to complete all of the facts on this page.
Division Page: Division is a bit trickier than multiplication. I would love it if students were able to complete this entire page. However, if it causes much frustration and/or confusion, do as many facts as you can. Leave the rest blank. This will help me to see which division facts we need to work on this year.
Thank you, families and students, for already working so hard in fourth grade!
